Inactives: Bryant Active; Two Linemen Out
Some interesting names are on the inactive list today for the Falcons in the season finale: place kicker Steve Hauschka and defensive linemen Jamaal Anderson (chest) and Thomas Johnson (knee).
That means that Matt Bryant, the former Tampa Bay kicker, likely will be well enough to kick against his former team despite the hamstring injury he [...]

Final: Falcons One Win Away From History
Both Tony Gonzalez and Matt Ryan stated on Wednesday that one goal to end this season would be to finish with a winning record, giving the franchise its first back-to-back winning seasons since the team began playing in 1966.
The Falcons now stand one win a way and next week’s opponent is the lowly Tampa Bay [...]

Third Quarter: The Rout Is On
With two touchdowns in the third quarter, the Falcons appear to have put this one away.
They lead 24-3 entering the fourth. That will likely set up next week as a chance to finish the season with three straight victories and a winning season — which would give the franchise its first back-to-back winning seasons in its [...]

Breaking News: Gonzalez Out, Koenen Questionable
Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez has an injured calf and will not return, it was just announced in the press box.
Gonzalez, a 13-year veteran, entered the game leading the Falcons in receptions with 78. He has played in all 15 games this season and leads the NFL in Pro-Bowl voting.
In addition, punter Michael Koenen was ruled to [...]
Halftime: Offense Struggling
Who would have thought entering this game that about the only thing keeping the Falcons in the game at halftime would be their defense?
It’s a much-maligned unit but after the offense failed to score and put up only 118 yards, several stops by the Falcons’ defense limited the score to only 13-0 Philadelphia at halftime.
On [...]

Halftime: Digging a Hole
On paper this game loomed as a big challenge — The Falcons were playing on the road (where they are 1-4), against a team in the top half of the NFL in rushing offense (against such teams they are 2-4) and without running back Michael Turner.
The absence of Turner has not been the problem, nor [...]

First Quarter: Falcons Making Big Plays
Wow, how’s that for some scheming? For all of those who question the Falcons’ personnel in the secondary, the Falcons coaches do a great job of finding ways to give up a lot of yards (they rank 25th in the NFL) but not a lot of points (they rank eighth) and to hide whatever weakness [...]

First Quarter: No First Downs for Birds
They didn’t do it in the first quarter, but one would expect the Falcons will manage at least one first down in the game. Only 10 yards total offense in the period, too.
That may be confounding the pundits a bit. Entering the game, consensus among one network’s pregame show was for the Falcons. In fact, [...]
